A parish newspaper rebuilt as an app, with a business directory at its centre.

The project
The business directory is the part people open it for. Categories fan out from a handful of tiles into real listings, each carrying hours, an address that hands off to maps, a photo gallery, live coupons and a call button, with featured placements sorting to the top of their grid. Alongside it the parish home holds every section in one grid: a newsstand, obituaries, jobs, classifieds, sports, public notices, community events, weather and a local links page for parish offices and schools.
Each section is its own shape rather than a generic feed. An obituary carries a portrait and a hometown, a classified expires on its own, a public notice runs with the dates it has to run. Parish staff compose all of it in an editor built into the app, with a two-step listing composer, image cropping and an icon picker, so a new section or a new business never waits on a developer.
It is an Expo app on iOS and Android, talking to a Go API over Connect RPC with protobuf contracts, backed by Postgres and S3-compatible media storage, deployed via GitOps. Roles, team invites and permissions are handled in the app too, so the parish runs its own desk.
