The project
Safety Alert Patrol pairs organizations that need a trained presence (schools, churches, community events) with people who already have the training: veterans, retired law enforcement, firefighters and EMS. The hard part was never the idea. It was trust, and the logistics of matching the two sides quickly.
We built the whole thing: a public site that explains the model and recruits both sides, and an application behind it where organizations post patrols and volunteers apply. Patrols are geo-matched against a search radius, scheduled, and tracked through to completion. Everything sits behind OAuth with multi-factor auth, and the vetting pipeline, background checks included, is a first-class part of the product rather than an afterthought.
It runs in production on AWS, with monitoring and alerting we maintain. The organization is now a funded nonprofit backed by federal grants and community donations.
